2. Working Principle of LEFILTER Natural Gas Filter Element

During long-distance pipeline transportation of natural gas, two major types of impurities will be mixed into the gas flow: one is inherent impurities from gas sources including rock powder, mineral particles, brine droplets carried out from underground gas layers; the other is mechanical impurities generated during pipeline operation, such as rust slag, welding debris, pipeline scale and condensed liquid water. These impurities will continuously impact downstream precision equipment, scratch the inner wall of instruments, block valve passages, reduce compressor service life, and increase pipeline transmission resistance. Therefore, gas filtering equipment equipped with filter elements must be installed before each receiving station, dispatching station and core process equipment to realize multi-stage graded filtration and protect the whole downstream system.

LEFILTER natural gas filter element is the core functional component of gas filtering equipment, and its material and structural design directly determine the overall filtration efficiency of the system. We select high-strength stainless steel metal mesh as the inner support framework of the filter element, which provides strong compression resistance and deformation resistance for the filter medium under high gas flow pressure difference. The filter medium adopts multi-layer composite sintered fiber structure, and is processed with wave breaking folding technology to expand the effective filtration area of a single filter element, realizing three major core functions: solid particle interception, liquid mist coalescence separation and impurity dirt holding.

When mixed gas flows through the filter cartridge from outside to inside (or inside to outside according to customized structure), multi-layer graded filter layers form gradient interception: large particle impurities are trapped on the outer surface of the filter medium, tiny solid particles and liquid droplets are captured by the inner fine fiber layer. The coalescing fiber material gathers scattered tiny liquid mist into large liquid drops, which flow down to the filter tank under gravity to realize gas-liquid separation.

For the sealing part of the filter element, we adopt high-low temperature resistant composite sealing gaskets. Even under low-temperature liquefied petroleum gas working conditions, the gasket can maintain stable elasticity and tight sealing performance, effectively preventing unfiltered gas from bypassing the filter layer and causing filtration failure.

In the actual operation process, with the continuous accumulation of intercepted impurities on the filter medium surface, the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the filter element will gradually rise.
