Introduction:
Ultrafiltration membrane (UF) is a precise membrane separation element driven by pressure. The pore size is usually between 0.01 and 0.1 μm, falling between microfiltration (MF) and nanofiltration (NF). It can achieve efficient separation of water and large molecules, colloids, suspended substances, bacteria, some viruses and particles under normal temperature and low pressure conditions, and is widely used in water treatment and fluid purification fields.
The core working principle is the sieving effect: under the push of a certain pressure, small molecule substances such as water molecules and inorganic salts can pass through the membrane pores, while suspended substances, colloids, proteins, microorganisms and other large molecular pollutants are retained, thereby achieving the purpose of purification, separation and concentration. Ultrafiltration membranes do not desalinate or change the mineral composition of water, and are mainly used for water clarity and sterilization, featuring high water production flux, small floor area, low operating energy consumption, no phase change, and no secondary pollution.
In industry, ultrafiltration membranes are often used in seawater desalination and pre-treatment of pure water, municipal tap water purification, reclaimed water reuse, wastewater treatment MBR process, food and beverage clarification, pharmaceutical purification, etc., and are the key pre-treatment and deep purification units in modern water treatment systems.
