Dust removal cartridges are cylindrical in appearance, with a compact structure that is convenient for installation and use. Their outer shells are generally made of sturdy and durable metal materials, such as stainless steel or galvanized steel sheets, which have good pressure resistance and sealing performance and can effectively prevent dust leakage. The inside is composed of a high-performance filter material to form a filtering layer. Polyester fiber, laminated polyester, glass fiber, etc. are common choices for filter materials. These filter materials have different pore structures and characteristics and can effectively intercept dust of different particle sizes and properties. Moreover, sealing rubber rings are usually equipped at both ends of the cartridges to ensure a tight connection with the dust collector, so that the dusty gas can all pass through the filter materials for filtration. They are widely used in various industrial scenarios that require dust control.
(I) Classification by Filter Material
1.Polyester Fiber Cartridges: They have good air permeability and relatively high filtration efficiency. They have a good filtering effect on general industrial dust, especially for dust with a slightly larger particle size. Moreover, they have a relatively obvious cost advantage as their prices are relatively affordable. However, their temperature resistance is relatively limited and they are usually suitable for dust removal work in normal temperature environments.
2.Laminated Polyester Cartridges: Based on polyester fiber, a special film is coated on them, which further improves their filtration accuracy and enables them to effectively intercept finer dust particles. They are very suitable for occasions with higher requirements for air quality. However, the existence of the film may affect air permeability to some extent, and the cost will also be slightly higher.
3.Glass Fiber Cartridges: They have outstanding high-temperature resistance and can work stably in high-temperature environments. They are often used for filtering dust generated in high-temperature working conditions such as steel and cement industries. However, they are relatively brittle in texture and need to be handled more carefully during installation and use to avoid collision and damage.
(II) Classification by External Dimensions
Different equipment has different requirements for the size of cartridges. There are cartridges with a smaller diameter but a longer length, which are suitable for dust collectors with limited installation space but a large demand for processing air volume. There are also cartridges with a larger diameter and a moderate length. Their filtering area is relatively larger, and they can achieve a better filtering effect under the same conditions, but they will occupy more installation space.
After the dusty gas enters the dust collector equipped with dust removal cartridges, it will be guided by fans and other equipment to flow evenly to each cartridge. When the gas passes through the filter material of the cartridge, due to the interception effect of the filter material, the dust particles cannot pass through the pores of the filter material and are attached to the surface of the filter material, while the clean gas smoothly penetrates the filter material. After being collected through the internal channels, it is discharged from the air outlet, realizing gas-solid separation. As the filtration continues, the dust on the surface of the filter material increases. When it reaches a certain level and affects the filtering effect, it is necessary to use the dust cleaning system to remove the dust on the surface of the filter material so that the cartridge can restore good filtering performance. The common dust cleaning methods include pulse jet cleaning, etc.
(I) High Filtration Efficiency
Most dust removal cartridges can achieve relatively high filtration efficiency for dust particles with a particle size of 0.3 microns or above. Some high-quality cartridges can achieve a filtration efficiency of over 99%, which can greatly reduce the dust content in the discharged gas and meet strict environmental protection emission requirements.
(II) Small Footprint
Compared with traditional bag dust collectors and other equipment, dust removal cartridges have a compact structure. Under the same requirement for processing air volume, they occupy less space and are more suitable for use in industrial sites with limited space, which can improve the space utilization rate of the site.
(III) Relatively Simple Operation and Maintenance
The installation and disassembly of cartridges are relatively convenient. The dust cleaning operation is generally realized through an automated dust cleaning system. It is only necessary to regularly check the wear condition of the cartridges and replace the damaged or those with reduced filtering performance in a timely manner. There is no need for complicated operation procedures and professional skills, which reduces the difficulty of daily maintenance.
(I) Consideration of Dust Characteristics
1.Particle Size:If the dust particle size is relatively large, polyester fiber cartridges with slightly lower filtration accuracy but good air permeability can be selected. If the dust particle size is fine, such as the fine dust generated in some chemical industries, laminated polyester cartridges or cartridges made of filter materials with higher filtration accuracy should be selected.
2.Dust Temperature: In high-temperature environments, such as the high-temperature dust generated in steel smelting, glass fiber cartridges and other high-temperature-resistant products must be selected. For dust control in normal temperature environments, polyester fiber cartridges can often meet the requirements.
3.Chemical Properties of Dust:For corrosive dust, corrosion-resistant filter materials should be selected to avoid the cartridges being corroded and damaged, which would affect the service life and filtering effect.
(II) Based on Processing Air Volume
Select the appropriate size and number of cartridges according to the actual air volume of the dusty gas generated in production. When the air volume is large, large-sized cartridges or an increased number of cartridges can be selected to ensure that there is sufficient filtering area to handle the gas and guarantee the filtration efficiency.
(III) Combination with Equipment Space
Fully consider the space limitations inside the dust collector and the installation site. If the space is relatively cramped, priority should be given to selecting cartridges with a smaller size but that can meet the filtering requirements. If the space is sufficient, cartridges with a larger filtering area can be considered to improve the overall filtering effect.
(IV) Consideration of Cost Factors
Not only should attention be paid to the procurement cost of cartridges, but also the service life, replacement frequency and maintenance cost should be comprehensively considered. For example, although the procurement cost of laminated polyester cartridges is slightly higher, if they can maintain good filtering performance for a long time and reduce the replacement frequency, they may be more cost-effective in the long run.
(I) Mechanical Processing Industry
A large amount of metal dust will be generated during cutting, grinding, welding and other processes. Dust removal cartridges can effectively filter these dusts, prevent them from spreading in the workshop, protect the health of workers, and also avoid damage to equipment caused by dust and extend the service life of equipment.
(II) Automobile Manufacturing Industry
During the processes of painting, welding, component grinding and other processes in automobile production, dust and paint mist will be generated. Selecting appropriate dust removal cartridges can accurately filter these pollutants, ensure the air quality in the workshop, improve product quality and meet the requirements of environmental protection production.
(III) Electronics and Electrical Appliance Industry
During the processing of circuit boards and the assembly of electronic components, fine dust will be generated. High-filtration-accuracy cartridges are needed to prevent dust from entering the interior of electronic equipment, ensure the performance and reliability of products and maintain the cleanliness of the production environment.
(IV) Food Processing Industry
In flour mills, grain processing plants and other places, the dust generated during the processing process can be collected and processed by dust removal cartridges to avoid dust mixing into food products, ensure the hygiene and safety of food and meet the strict hygiene standards of food production.
As key components for industrial dust removal, dust removal cartridges are diverse in types and have their own characteristics. When selecting, it is necessary to comprehensively consider various factors such as dust characteristics, processing air volume, equipment space and cost to select the products that best meet your own production needs. Their wide application in numerous industries also demonstrates their importance in improving the production environment, ensuring product quality and meeting environmental protection requirements. With the increasingly strict environmental protection standards and the continuous development of industry, the correct selection and use of dust removal cartridges will become even more crucial. They will continue to help various industries achieve green and clean production and contribute to creating a good industrial ecological environment.
